RCBS Matchmaster

Hi Guys,

Has anybody had a chance to play around with an RCBS Matchmaster yet?

Will it do what it says on the tin – 0.04grn accuracy?

If I’m spending that kind of money I’m getting an A&D scale with the auto trickler for $750. I’ll throw my charges with my Redding BR3 or just spend $1400 and get the scale, auto trickler and auto throw. But for now my Bald Eagle scale, Redding BR3, and Frankfort arsenal manual trickler works fine by me. I only load at the most 100 rounds in one sitting, so for me I don’t mind if it takes an extra 30 mins. I also know how accurate and consistent this is for me, so I don’t know if I’d have complete faith in the RCBS Match Master.

I don't know if it's mentioned in his review, but from the specs, it looks as though it's +/- 0.04grn. That's a 0.8grn window...

I seriously doubt many on here have or will. There are both better and less expensive options out there for that price point.

That would be a .08 window and I could sure live with that as I live with a +/- .1 gn now

Yes, better than .04 gn. Had a very flat waterline at the SWN this year. Still does not stop getting blown out of the 10 ring though.

In match mode, mine measures reliably to a kernel .02 of Varget and H4198 and a couple kernels of N133. Love mine. With custom settings and the inserts from Etsy (link below), it can throw N133 with lightning speed and precision and other larger powders real fast and precise. No more excuses for vertical for me damnit!

For outdoor match shooting, I just use the RCBS Chargemaster Lite. For short range Group and Score, it is plenty accurate.
But then, I never load at home. Always at the range. The Lite has the best wind guarded I have ever seen.

I’ve enjoyed my a ChargeMaster lite to the point I’m curious about the MatchMaster too. I have an A&D and auto trickled sitting in box I need to set up but I’m still curious about the MatchMaster, I did watch Gavin’s review, sounded pretty good. If anybody has hands on experience I hope you share it.

I'd love to talk to you about that! Have you checked the accuracy of the CM? Mine can be .3 grains off, maybe I've just got a bad one, I've done the reprogramming and the insert and they both helped. OR is .3 "good enough" for short range? 2019 was my first year then 2020 wasn't even a year and now we are getting ready to go full bore on 2021 so I'm hoping for some fake wood or some of my money back LOL

I see a significant difference with .3 in most loads at 100. I can do better than that with a powder throw and I am not the best using one. +-.1 I would be comfortable with for the most part as I try to find a load that will shoot with that variance.

I bought one, used it to load 200 rounds of 300 Norma Mag.

Zero variations in charge weight over the 200 rounds.

Came inside the house, got on the computer and ordered a second one, which was delivered yesterday.

Best auto drop I have ever used.....PERIOD

And yes I have owned and have used the A&D scale with the auto trickler.

I've owned 2 Charge masters and verified the first one w/a beam scale.
The second I verified w/an A&D scale. I couldn't have ask for either one
to be anymore accurate. LDS

For decades, we threw charges by volume with various powder throwers, which regardless of ones technique, was good for +- .3.

The CM Lite is at least that good for Short Range.

I have preloaded for Varmint for Score Match’s using my Denver Electronics Scale, which is about as accurate as anything out there. I could not tell the difference.

Sometimes I think I shot better just throwing charges. We all got on the weighing kick about 5 years ago And I can not honestly say things have improved.
