RCBS lubricating pad

I've got a RCBS lube pad that I have used forever. I'm about out of the lube and need to get another bottle, but was wondering if anyone has used anything else on the pad other than the RCBS lube.

To answer your question "No".I have not changed and this has been for a really long time. (60's)
But since you have used it "forever' I would assume it worked quite well. It certainly has for me, so I wonder why change if it's working well?

Just that I have to pay more for postage than for the lube and no-one around here has any. Yes, it does work quite well!

Still using the RCBS lube, it is water soluble, works great, cheap, rinses off, why anyone would use anything petroleum based is beyond me....

I gave up on RCBS case lube a long time ago.. Hornadays One Shot isn't very good either IMO. I have been using Imperial wax with great results for years.

I use the RCBS liquid lube also (after being turned on to it by Randy Gregory) mostly because it just works as well as washing off with water once my brass prep's done.

Gave up on their pad years ago howsomever, in preference for a piece of 1/2' thick green foam padding I bought (I think) at Walmart or maybe JoAnne's. Cut to fit on the bottom of a shallow Martha (my term for any plastic storage container with a snap-on lid) it sits on my bench with the cover on, keeping dust & other stuff off until I need it.

I'd use anything petroleum-based (STP, etc.) with caution as some foam materials will disintegrate in short order because of it.

I have used mineral oil since the late 60's with an RCBS pad. Nice thing about it, is that it evaporates and does not require washing. Use sparingly and even though you may think it is on too light, it will work well. A gunsmith turned me on to it.

Of late, I've been loading the pad with Imperial Sizing Wax and have no regrets

I bought one back in the mid-70's, dumped the entire tube of gel on the pad and have been using it ever since!! Thousands and thousands of every kind of brass has rolled across it plus a ton of graphite neck dust has spilled on it and it still works fine..amazing in my eyes after 40+ years.

I stopped using the case lube pads years ago....they have a huge affinity to attract dirt. Research has shown that a person sensitivity to touch is great enough to detect particles as small as 0.2 mm, therefore I prefer to apply Imperial lube with my fingers and as a result have no cases that come out of the die scratched nor cases stuck in the die, nor shoulder dents.

I bought a pad probably 40 years ago, used it for lubing pistol cases. Couldn't afford carbide dies back then. When I started BR, I did as everyone, used Imperial Wax. It's OK. But, I have run into times where Imperial was giving me hard sizing. For the hell of it, I pulled the old pad out, got some new RCBS II lube, and what a difference! No hard sizing ever again. It works much better. That's all I've used since.

The RCBS lube is water based as been said, and cleans off very easy. And being able to lay 10-15 cases on the pad, roll the whole bunch with my open hand, and size away, is fast. To me, it's like picking up one-primer-at-a-time, when you can do a bunch?
