RCBS Full Length Die Set Up

Or get the Whidden universal click adjustable lock ring, I'm going to try one for my RCBS standard die.

A buddy of mine bought one (I don't remember if it was the ring alone, or the click-adjustable die and ring.) In any case, he was less than impressed.

I have not tried it, so have no personal opinion.

Good to know. I'm guilty of getting caught up with some of these "toys" only to find out they sound better in theory than in practice.

I bought the die shims and although I've used them and they work fine, I've had just as much success removing the die from the press, slightly loosening the lock ring, turning it ever so slightly and reinstalling it in the press to achieve my bump.

As described in my original post...the floating method was not so painless...nor repeatable. LOL

I, like K22, use the skips shims. Makes life simple. Also when not using the shims, I put a sharpie mark on the die body just above the lock ring. Using the points on the lock ring as markers. I don't remove the die, just back it out an 1/2 turn, loosen setscrew on lock ring. turn lockring which ever way needed, tighten the set screw, then snug the die down and run another case threw and measure. I've found it is best to use a new/different case each time while making adjustments for best/most accurate adjusments.

If you set the FL die up flush with the shell holder, no slack, with the .01 Skip Shim you shouldn't have to change the lock ring. Just use the thinner shims to increase the amount of sizing if any needed. With the shim set running from .008 to .003 that gives you a lot of range for increasing the amount of sizing. At least that's the way it works for me.
