HI
My 15 year old RCBS 502 scales are showing signs of wear and I'm no longer confident that they are reading truly.
I have been considering upgrading to an RCBS charge master for all of my re-loading.
Have any of you guys that have a charge master ever used it to do a Ladder,Audette) load test for any of your loads??
I plan to do my ladder test with 0.2 grain increments using RL-10X, A local version of 322 and benchmark and maybe some Vhit powder in this range if the local store can supply,
The new rifles I have waiting for loads include a .223 AI 1:9, a 6 BR Norma 1:10 and will soon include a 30 BR 1:13 and a 338 Federal and possibly a 20/222 or 20 practical if I'm very very lucky.
Is the RCBS CM 1500 combo unit easily programmable to enable me to make such small adjustments in charge weight and it be accurate in its dispensing?? No point in doing the ladder test if the charge weights aren’t accurately dispensed.
I am hoping to borrow a reliable scale from a local reloader friend to be able to do check weighting through the process to ensure safety.
Or is there a better way of doing a Ladder test powder dispensing than using an auto dispenser??
Another mate suggested a powder thrower throwing light and trickling it up to weight- much slower but on a good scale guaranteed to be accurate.
Thanks for your suggestions
