RCBS ChargeMaster Update

I have the "latest" model of this unit and have found it accurate and reasonably fast. BUT now the keypad has gone out with the center numbers, i.e. 2, 5, 8, and 0, have gone nuts. Punch the number 2 in and I get the number 3 on the display with the number 5 causing 6 to display, the number 8 displays as 9. The number zero is working as a cancel button now. THis means that for example you want 45 grains of powder thrown - not going to happen as you cannot get the machine to recognize the number 5.

RCBS is kind enough to have me return it for repair, but wondering if anyone else has had this problem occur?

I really thought the saga of these was over as this is Number 4 that I have had.

Same story, I had tried to put in 33.5 and it came out as 55.9. I sent it back, RCBS sent me a new one. Hope they get it solved.

Maybe some of these companies will FINALLY realize that MADE IN CHINA does not mean MORE PROFITS.

They,RCBS) are good folks they deserve better from the manufacturer of the unit.

Well I sent it back - kinda like sending the first child off to college. Needed to happen but really miss it already.

I did not remember just how much work was involved in throwing a charge, trickling it, until I loaded some 22 Hornet after sending the unit back.

I had the same problem, called RCBS and they sent me another one with a prepaid shipping label to ship the faulty one back. I am now a BIG fan of RCBS

Well, machine # 5 is sitting on my reloading bench now. Took about 10 days and I am a happy camper. RCBS even sent a Postal Money Order to cover the expense of sending the unit back to them.

ChargeMaster works well and I only rarely get an over charge and when it ocurrs it is only .1 grain and this only with course grained powders.

:)

Am glad mine is working well!! I use RCBS for a lot of my equipment just because of their customer service. Jay Postman who passed away several years ago was about a good a person that you could ever have in a customer service capacity.

Well, mine just went nuts! Had the thing 1year and 2 weeks. Trying to get a hold of RCBS now but they must be very busy. Hope they get there design/quality fixed on these, I love it when it works, now it is just a $250 paper weight!

Sounds like the same problem keeps accuring. These things have really been a great product. I have a Lyman DPS And I dont think I could go without it. In fact Ive put so much powder threw this thing and depend on it so much I purchased the DPSIII plus the upgrade for the original. The nice thing is I drag this thing all over the country side and have NEVER had a problem with it. But if I do I have brand new back up. The upgrade kit speeds up the older DPS I to the speed of the III.

I'm sure most of the guys who have one will agree that it is good peice of gear that helps in the daily grind of loading. Its even better when the thing does not break!

I had the same keyboard problem about a month or so ago. LIke
everyone else I called RCBS Customer Serice & after several
attempts to get though, they must be really busy) I finally did
get though. The lady was really nice. Told me to box it up with a note & send it back & they would send me a new one. It did cost me the shipping cost to RCBS. Guess I wasn't gruff enough
for them to offer to send me a prepaid shipping label. The new
unit arrived & it is working great. This is my 3rd unit now that
I have had of the 1500 Charcemaster Series. Does a great job but
I just hope that it keeps working. I have to give RCBS credit, they do stand behind their products with a no BS Warranty. I have also called over the years on small things and normally those items are sent free of charge. I just borrowed a friends unit and kept on loading while mine was down.

I have a slightly different issue with mine, but have been calling 800-533-5000 for 2 weeks now and it's always busy. Any one have another number, or better than that, an email address to a person and not a generic inbox,ie. custserv@rcbs.com)?

I finally got a hold of RCBS yesterday and it was great! The guy I talked to said not to worry about it being 2 weeks out of warrenty, just send it in and he would send me another! I wish all warenties worked like that, I would buy extended warrenties but my experience is they aren't worth the paper they are written on!

Thanks RCBS!

Received my new,Not rebuilt) Charge master Saturday, works great ! Thanks to RCBS for standing behind there products!

I purchased a Pact over 8 years ago and I've never had a single problem, it's spot on 99.9% of the time never off more them one tenth. I read all the hype about how fast the new Lyman was so I recently purchased one, it went to acting up in less then one week. Sometimes faster isn't always better. I'll be sending this new piece of junk back and when and if it's repaired or replaced it will get sold.

Regards
RJ

Almost sounds like people are pushing too hard on the number pad.

Would this sound reasonable?

Looking at gettting this kit in the near future.
