RCBS Chargemaster Combo

Anyone have any good ideas to clean powder out of the tube , when changing to a different powder. I must be missing something this is terrible.

After opening the side chute and dumping the powder magazine, use a small paint brush and make sure all the powder is removed from there. Then punch in 99 grains of powder on the keyboard, and dispense. Lift up the rear of the unit while it’s almost done dispensing, and it will be empty. Go back and open chute again, because there will be a little more to drain back there. Done.

You don’t have to put in any certain number at all just hit dispense and it will run until you cancel

1. I turn my scale sideways on the loading bench with the drain port toward me.
2. I open the drain port and let the hopper drain into a small container (by over hanging the bench, it gives me better access).
3. I enter 70.0 gr into the CM and dispense. This runs about everything out of the tube into the pan. I keep my container under the dump port as a small amount will come out the opening in the tube and drain down.
4. I have a photography rocket air blaster. I give a few puffs in the discharge end of the tube with the opening downward (use trickle to get it turned where you want it). Anything left (a few granules) get blown back into the hopper and into my container.
5 I CLOSE THE DRAIN PORT before turning the scale back into it's normal position.

Here is the air tool I mentioned, also works great for cleaning dust from optics (purpose it was designed for).

One thing I'll add as a final process to that mentioned above, is to remove the weights, and tip the whole unit forward to almost vertical while holding the pan under the chute ... tap a few times on the bench and the last of the powder stuck in the threads will pop out.

After I drain the powder from the reservoir, I pick up the CM and turn it tube side down. At that point, I may or may not insert a thin artist paint brush in the tube and wiggle it around to clear any remaining granules.

Same here basically, I do not raise mine any, i use a paper clip that i unmet so i have two different size ends to coax the remaining granule out while it is dispensing. Last item, check with flashlight. I like the hand held air blaster as described above. Putting it on the buy list.

I'm using the McDonalds straw mod, so I don't have problems with powder stuck in the tube threads. I funnel the hopper into the powder bottle, hit dispense once the level is below the pickup tube, then hit the hopper with a brush to get anything leftover out (there seems to be a slight lip where the drain channel meets the hopper bottom and several grains can hang up there.) Then hit cancel on the dispense, and close the drain valve.
