RCBS ChargeMaster 1500 VS. Hornady Lock-N-Load Auto Charge

Hey I'm looking into getting a RCBS ChargeMaster 1500. I noticed Hornady makes one also for abit less money. ($329 for the RCBS and $239 for the hornady)

I'm wondering if its worth the extra money to get the RCBS?

I have only been reloading for a few months but I'm collecting reloading things for when I get a target gun later this winter or spring.

Thanks.

Go to the articles about eqipment on the home page. That will steer you in the right direction. The writer stated the rcbs was the most accurate. Check out the article.

it is labeled powder dispenser tests part1&2 By the way welcome to our family of members who love to make a bug hole in the target.

I am sure I must be missing it, but I don't see where the Chargemaster was compared to the Hornady Lock and Load on that article. I only see a comparison between the Lyman and Pact.

Could you post a link?

Thanks Gary

I ended up getting the RCBS and I am very happy with it.

If that helps you any.

I have the RCBS. Natchez Shooters Supply has them on sale again right now. $280 I believe is the price.

Once you quit doing this you will be happy with it.
Make sure you put a What A Burger straw in the end of the auger for fewer over charges.

Yeah, I quit doing that. ::) I haven't had any problem with overcharges on mine though. When I bought my Chargemaster 1500, the Hornady and Pact hadn't come out yet, or if they did I didn't see anything about them. The picture I saw recently on the Hornday looks to me just like the RCBS, only it's red. makes me wonder if the same outfit is making both machines?
Many years ago, I went to using ball powders. Not because they were better although usally just as good for the most part, but because it was a lot less hassle running them through a powder measure. Now that I have the Chargemaster, I can go back to using those log type powders like 4831 and do load work ups without the hassle.
It's the only way to fly.

I spilled powder on the bench for the first 3 months because I always forgot to close that after I was done using it ...LOL

Go for the RCBS Charge Master 1500 Combo. If you speak with their Combo progamming Guru, Don Legg Jr., you can actually speed up the the delivery of powder. Here's one for $279. You just missed an additional $50 rebate from RCBS :(: http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=rc98923&src=BA183

Trust me. Get a white and orange straw the size used at what a burger and cut off about 3/4 inch and stick 1/2 inch into end off drop tube. Will stop kernels from hanging up and improve consistency. This is not something I just came up with but is used by lots of charge master owners. Really helps with long powders such as some IMR and RL

Gotta buy the Chargemaster. Natchez @ $279.99 and I just found a NEW REBATE for $50.00 on a $300.00 sale of RCBS equpt. Good from Jan. 1, 2011 thru Dec. 1, 2011.
