RCBS 505....equivalent?

Tough to tell about anything anymore. 1066 where did you this information I would like to follow up on this as my two 1010's are different shades of green. Dont mean to high jack.

Well I get a fair few scales pass through and guess I currently have 30-40 in the workshop at the moment. Some of the scales have a small paper sticker saying "Made in China" in the base of the scale but still say "Manufactured by Ohaus, NJ" cast in the base. I also have Dillon Eliminators from both Mexico and China. The original box always says where it was actually made.

Some of the scales are fine, work as well as any of the older ones ever did, unfortunately some are not so good - some can be fixed without too much trouble, some will never be right.

All RCBS 5-10's were made in USA - they were dropped from the line before they started having them made elsewhere. There are some new listings for the 10/10 and 505, they are made in China and now apparently not branded as RCBS. All the RCBS M500's I've seen have been made in China.

Some of my scales:

Dillon, front label says made by Ohaus, small sticker says "made in China"

Typical new scale fault

Now we know who’s been hoarding the good ones.

@1066
I see you have a Lyman 500 unit. How does this one compare to your other ones.TKS

The old Lyman D500's not a bad scale - It's a basic two poise scale, magnetic damping with a cast metal body. The difference between the D500 and the RCBS 502 is that the Lyman has fixed Agate bearing and the RCBS bearing float, the knife edge on the Lyman is also a rather small puny affair.

So - accurate, simple, no fancy refinements, maybe half a notch below the RCBS 502 equivalent but better that the later plastic bodied offerings.
