RCBS 5-10 Scale - Hundredths?

Here's a question - is an RCBS 5-10 scale able to measure to 0.05 of a grain? There's a curve at the end of the beam (between "tenths" and "0" in the pic), that if I align the black line of the 0.x roller up with, it seems like it's about half of a tenth. Does this sound about right?

@Keith Glasscock did a boob-tube video breaking down the velocity of a .1gr of powder resulting in a 5fps difference in a 284.
So depending on cartridge and case capacities what are you trying to accomplish with a tune window that small you need to split tenths?

Just curious. I haven't tried the node test yet to prove it's worth to me, so I still shoot groups. Just might want to load 0.05 on either side of my determined load for s&g.

Might be easier to see on the needle side indicator since deflection would be larger- iow, dont try to dial in half of the weight, rather read it off the indicator? With some of tuned scales I’ve seen on the internet, they are definately capable of indicating one kernel deflection. Not sure if you will be able to do that repeatably with an untuned scale though

IMO in the case of a properly tuned scale, the issue is not whether you can see a difference but rather that the small amount that the pointer moves is hard to read, over and over again, in a reasonable length of time, and....that with that little deflection, that parallax becomes a serious issue. All of this is pretty much taken care of by using a cheap web cam to magnify the image onto a screen, and since it does not move during a given setup, parallax is not an issue. or you can use your smart phone set to magnify....

The 5-10 is an excellent scale, and the older 5-10's, as shown in the video above were even better.
The scale shown in the top video was a set I tuned for Laurie Holland in 2013 to take to the F-Class World Championships in Raton, NM that year.
