Rattlesnake

Did you return to the fold and start shooting F-class again? Cuz I don't believe I've ever seen you (or anyone) shoot that fast slung up with a single-shot rifle...

Literally getting ready to shoot the final leg of today’s match. It’s been awesome and horrible all in one. Awesome people here and wouldn’t pass it up though. Hard not to feel like you’re actually accomplishing something when it’s switchy 20+ mph gusts.

Downside...wind blew my Razor over and broke it. Time to send it in.

Looks like a nice 1 o'clock head wind? :D

I heard they almost cancelled earlier in the day...

Really??? I can't count the number of times my Kowa's (661 & 821M) have been blown over @ Rattlesnake (usually when 'sharing' my spotting scope with new shooters on the same firing point) and they're still going strong...

Yeah dang thing hit the collar on a rock. Scope is fine. Collar is screwed.

Just a quick update. I’m not sure if anyone has a more accurate final number but at the time my buddy’s Kestral died he was measuring 18mph and it only got worse.

Monte, you are missing a "good" one. Yeah, we had a bunch of upright break but they had bullet holes in them :-)

Very spicy conditions.. the biggest shift for me went 2'ish to 9 1/2 MOA in a big build up over a few shots.. and of course you are behind by a minute or 3 on each shot.

Caught everyone on the line cause it just didn't look that big a change

The last relay was fairly tolerable but still ranged from 2mins right to 5 mins left... the usually stuff.

Fun, fun, fun...

Jerry

Steve,

Check out an app called "Windy"... Keith Glasscock turned me onto it down at Phoenix a while back. Intended for hor air balloons, wind surfers and such, it works great for our sport as well. You might even find that someone has already created a bookmark for Rattlesnake... ;)

Yes, I am aware of windy.com (Canadian ranger clued us in during our backpack in the Cdn Rockies). Good website.

Greetings,
Scores from yesterday put all those wind graphs in perspective ....
0738 hrs and the flags are already moving. Here we go again.

Quite the turnout for the Palma crowd... and judging by the way some very good shooters ended up down the list a ways, I'm guessing there was a bit of 'relay roulette' going on?

Good luck John!
