Rattler, elk, goats, mulies....oh & pdogs.

The usual early morning game moving out as I came in for p-dogs again
About 60 Elk, cows, calves, bulls, mulies giving me the eyeball, goats doing the same.
Nothing like a rattler to make sure I look around my stuff before walking or picking up anything off the ground.
Wont get back out till next weekend, but at least I got some trigger time in.
My prone perch.

60+ Elk

Rattttttttler.

Hey 5spd, what do you guys feed those buzz worms, down there. That guy has to be at least 4'.

Good stuff 5! I let our rattlers live cause they kill those dammedable Chipmunks! To many times they've skeered the bejebbers out of me when they realize I'm sitting on the log they're in!

From what I have seen, PA. has a season on rattlesnakes and is specific to length and gender. Is that true? If so, IMHO that is insane.

Deer, elk, goats and that "rattle worm" make for a memorable hunting day.

Friend called Sunday night from central Pennsylvania. He told me there were lots of nice bucks near my old hunting camp there but .... the snakes were horrible this year. All over the Black Moshannon Creek area, he struggled to fly fish at times along the creek.

I sure remember killing many for decades in that area. No restrictions then. Today, it's probably a sign of the government getting "green". I shoot the darn things and let them rot. No eating on my part but some were eaten in my camp in the 60's through 90's. I say, "Euch".

Of the four choices, which is your favorite to eat? When I read your headline, I thought about a "game dinner" I attended. Josh.:)

For eats..Antelope, Elk then deer, ate rattlers in the 70s.
Yea it was close to 4' long.
This ranch has several snake dens and they will burn them, but like p-dogs they just keep moving and multiplying.
I wont even walk along the creek side grasses below the rocky bluffs out there just so I don't have to think about stepping on 20 all slithering around to get into the sun on the ledges.
About as many 13 stripped grounds rats that they eat along with smaller p-dogs.

If I sat on a log with one in it, after I landed in the trees again I would dynamite that log. I hate snakes

If he was in my sleeping bag I'd be cleaning the snert outta my drawers!!!!

I am not sure if that is a compliment, a note of admission that we both hate snakes, or something else...?;)

I admit that simply SEEING a snake makes me hyperventilate. It is a visceral thing that just plain gives me the willies. (and I am not a fan of swarms of bugs or bees either) . If ever anyone wanted to get me to admit to something, no waterboard needed. Just a paper bag over my head and a bunch of blackflies. "Yep, i did it!!!...now get this bag of my head!"

Just tryin' to have a little fun, that's all...I have a cabin in the mountains of Virginia and there are more poisonous snakes there than anywhere I have ever seen. Usually, rattlers and copperheads are pretty rare, but not at the cabin. I typically see at least one or the other every time I am there. I am not really scared of them, but I have seen first hand the damage a snakebite can cause....a cousin got bit on the tip of his thumb many years ago. He still cant move it, it stays real pink in color and the skin constantly sloughs off. He has never grown the nail back and the doctors tell him that this is the best it will get.
I can say I am not scared of them...but a poisonous snake has the potential to scare anyone, me included!!!!!
