About a month ago I fired this 6 shot group. I did my very best to break the trigger on the center of the 4" dia. painted spot. I drove down for a look and snapped this picture. I still smile every time I look at it.

The Details:
45F sunny skies, dead calm conditions.
sheet steel target at 700 meters / 765 yards.
Rem 700 stainless SA with a Douglas 26" #6 SS in 7mm-08
Barrel has been fired 4368 shots.
HS Precision hunter stock in BDL configuration.
Leupold 6.5x20X set at 20X ...fine duplex.
WInchester #4 fired .308 brass.
VV N160 near max charge.
CCI 200 primers.
Sierra 175 gr. GameKing SBT

(choose your answer)......good.....great.....Holy Crap!!

That dog'll hunt!!

I have never shot at those distances, but I am genuinely amazed at those that do and can shoot like that!

In my opinion it combines the equipment, ammo, and most importantly the shooter's skill to produce a truly remarkable system.

Sure blew that 6th shot out to the right, hey?

Oh wait, SEVEN hundred meters!!!???
Great shooting!
That wide shot was #4 and clearly visible against the black. I knew I had something pretty good happening left of it. Needed more than 20X to see it clearly.

The used AR steel was donated to our club by a local indoor shooting range. It has to get replaced every two years as it bends and joints separate, etc. We cut some ourselves and had a shop NC cut a bunch of rounds for our one mile range.

I just wanted some sheets cut to get four rectangles. Two were placed at 100M to satisfy the mag dumpers. One each at 300M and 700M. So far the green flashers are holding up well at 700M, batteries OK with the cold temps, too. One got nicked but still working OK with four LED lamps gone.

The protected tire rubber straps will last a long time, bolts easily replaced.

There is a difference between accuracy/ and precision
That is very accurate, but with Great Precision!
Now, The real test is to see if you and the rifle can do that "Consistently"
Not suggesting I'd do much better, that's just how I would test mine to make sure I didn't have
an "Exceptional Group" fluke...See how repeateable it is at that distance

The stars were aligned that day....not even gonna try.;)

Laughing, I feel ya,
I get nervous every time I have to live by that discipline and see if a load or gun is repeateably consistent.
Sometimes I put it off for a month or more

That's remarkable with that many rounds through your barrel. You got a good one!
I telephone order called in that barrel in '05 and installed it myself. The gal at Douglas triple checked with me that I wanted a 7mm-08 and not a 7mm Mag in that big barrel contour. I knew exactly what I wanted. 168 SMK's and Varget were the diet it was fed for 3800 shots then the accuracy went south. No amount of fussing would make it shoot good again with that combination. I was ready to replace it. Out of MK's at the time I tried the heavy GK's with a suitable powder. VG accuracy again but that day was something special.

Interesting, I have a 7/08 myself and really like it except for it being a short action
The best group's I've achieved Long Range consistency with came from -
- no longer made Nosler 162 gr HPBT's
I have been searching for another bullet that would shoot that well again
Thanks for your info as I will try some GK's now and see
