rangefinders

has anybody used a rangefinder from newcon optik i,m in the market for one and they make one that,s suppossed to go to 2500yds.

There was a very favorable thread that I believe was on the longrangehunting site before they changed over. The long and short of it was that it would keep pace with the swarovski, and there were pics posted that were taken through the rangefinder at 2800 yards on reflective objects.
Hopefully the link i gave will work, there is a review under the advertisement that you will likely find helpfull.
If you happen to purchase one, please post of I'ts performance as I hope to own one myself,I only have an old 500 yard bushnell).

Depends on what you want it for. Ranging boulders or house sized things way out there is one thing. They have a huge beam divergence about 3x or 4x that of Leica. For varmint-size targets on the ground, those Newcons are about worthless. But they're comparatively inexpensive. You get what you pay for. I wouldn't use one if it were given to me.
