Rangefinder

Speaking from hands on experience.................what's the best rangefinder you've used, that's consistent, reliable.............for.......400 yards and BEYOND.

I purchased a Bushnell ARC 1000 yard, last fall, works awesome from a deer stand and sub 400 yards..........beyond that, grrrrrrrrrr I'm not trying to pick out a PD at 762 yards....
I have 2 other rangefinders, another Bushnell and a Leica, I was just wanting the smaller body style.
I appreciate your input.

Easy answer. Nikon prostaff 1200. I've ranged up to 1340 with it. It consistantly ranges anything i need it to. I have also used Leica's 1200 yarder and would say they are very comparable.. Would recommend either.

Leica 1200 scan never had a problem with it works great very consistent just have to be as still as possible with the long shots.

Many thanks for the input, greatly appreciated.

? Does the Nikon have a RED readout?
My Leica is ? years old, has a red readout and being color blind, I struggle reading the numbers and seeing the box/square on clear days, not quite as bad on lower light/cloudy days.

I'm presuming the Leica 1200 has the red read out? I have a Leica 800.

Again, thank you.

no sir. Black readout. It can be a bit tough to see in low light, that's the only downside of the Nikon compared to the Leica but it sounds like it would actually be an upside for you :)

Leica 1600. I had the 1200 LRF that worked real well, but this one blows it away.

+1 for the Leica 1200, i tossed a Busnell and have never regretted the change, the Leica is great, used for pd, mulies, etc ranges easity beyond the advertised

very clear optic

I love my leica 1200.
Went to wyoming with 3 other guys on a speed goat hunt and the lesser rangefinders died after 400yds.

i use a zeiss that i bought from scott @ liberty optics, great RF with great optics and scott is top notch all the way--cam

In my humble opinion it would be the Leica Geovid, hands down. Your rangefinder and your binoculars in one nice sized unit. Like the previous poster said, "buy the best and cry once". I didn't! I had a Leica 1200 LRF, a Swarovski, and then the Geovid. Yep, I took the expensive route to my Geovids. :(

Had a Nikon golf RF, but it was'nt sensitive enough, and went to Swarovski. With optics you really get what you pay for, and the Swarovski is a great unit.

I have a new Bushnell Fusion. Excellent glass, very good rangefinding capability, an all around excellent unit!!!!

Swarovski, strongest laser unit Ive seen and I've ranged slow elk (moo cows) at 2000 yards. yes 2000 yards. over and over. You say well who cares your not going to shoot at 2000 yards right ...well true BUT in inclement weather (like snow) it reliably picks up targets way further out than other units due to its power.

the optics are absolutely sweet> huge FOV, great glass!!...mine worked while goat hunting when it was 14 below zero and it was cold soaked in a thin pocket on the outside of my pack belt, never missed a beat.

the only thing I wish it had was the inclinometer so I didnt have to carry a angle card for goat hunting!...not that big of deal though.

Well that sounds great! My only question it how far have you ranged smaller animals like antelope, pdogs and so on?

I started with a Nikon and then upgraded to the Zeiss PRF. Excellent optics! In fact I think the 8x rivals the 10x Sightron binos I have. I have ranged deer at 997 yds and semi-reflective targets to 1450 yds. We do not have many lopes or P-diggers in eastern WA so I can't tell you how it works on them. I initially wasn't convinced I'd like the horizontal configuration; however after a side-by-side comparison with my buddies Leica 1200, I can hold the Zeiss much steadier and it really settles in on a bench or a pack for ranging longer distances.
