Range trip #4 with 6BR...I can't shoot.

All 4 shot groups. You will see a pattern of 1 pulled shot to the left and high mostly, that otherwise ruins a decent group. What am I doing to cause this?
Picture 1 - 105 VLD jammed .010 Left side Varget, Right side Re15 (29.7 Varget was the best at .455")

Target 2 - 107 SMK jumped .025 H4895 starting at 28g up to 29.5g. (Most 3 shots sub.5" plus a pulled shot left)

Target 3 - 107 SMK jumped .025 Re15 starting at 29.4 up to 30.3 (107smk's seem to work best with Re15) again, pulling a shot left.

The best thing for you to do is do get an experienced shooter to shoot some groups with your rifle & see how it compares. At least this will give you a second opinion on your shooting - it may not be you at all

First off...Could the swivel studs in the forearm of the stock have ill effects when they are placed in the bags? There are two of them on this Medalist and they are riding in the front bag when I'm shooting. I tried moving the bag behind them, but the gun was just too nose heavy to shoot comfortably. I didn't realize I could remove them from the stock, I figured they were glued in. Turns out they are not, so I just removed them. I figure this may allow the gun to recoil more consistently now.

Now...Bare with me here, and I may be reaching, but lets look more closely and let me know if my observations below hold any water.

These two groups were shot with Re15 and 107 smk's. The left is 30g, the right is 30.3g. Now, let's imagine, or move one target on top of the other, and throw out the pulled shot. There would be a 7 shot group just under .5". No other two groups have been this close. So I am going to work on the 30g Re15, 107's and seating depth.

Now let's do the same with these two groups, as they showed the most similarity of the loads tested with 105 vld's. Throw out the worst flyer and another .5" 7 shot group. This top group was the best of the night and I felt like I pulled the highest shot, which was the 4th shot. This combo really felt good. Top group is 29.7g Varget, bottom is 30g Varget with the 105 vld jammed .010. Again, let's move these two targets on top of each other. So I think I will do some testing at 29.7g Varget and the 105's and test seating depth.

After I test seating depth with these two bullet/powder combos, I'm just going to pick something and practice on out to 2-300yds.

Looks like you have good accuracy from 29.7 to 30.3, if I were you I would pick the 30.0 grain charge as your OCW load and fine tune it with seating depth, I think that's where you are going to find your better accuracy because it's in the center of your node.

Let us know how trip #5 goes!

By the way, removing the swivel studs will help alot, I always remove mine from my rifles, the front and rear.

The one flyer your groups show are all to the left and up whihc makes me believe it is something you are doing.

Here is my suggestion:

Take the sling studs OFF! shoot your load and see what happens.

If that does not help then I would change powders to VARGET and load with 30 grains with the 107 SMK seated .020" off.

This the pretty much "go to" load for a 6mmBR and it shoots very well in two of my 6mmBR's. My 3rd 6mmBR likes 30.2 grains of VV550 with the same bullet and seating of .020" off.

Whatever you do, only change ONE thing at a time so you can isolate what is working/not working for you.

Gotta ask, were you using wind flags? With so many shots consistently left and high, I'm thinking there was a condition on the range giving you that and it could have been exaggerated by the studs. Never a good idea to have studs hit/touch your bags.

Yes, I used flags. There was a very light breeze periodically, but I waited for the flags to drop before I shot. Towards the end of the session, when the VLDs were shot, there was no wind.

when the wind flags drop, mirage starts and if there is a very slight drift from right to left the last shots will move up to the left,

are the first shots closser

Sounds and looks like what was happening to me. The problem was that my rifle wasnt balanced right, and I was trying to shoot free recoil. This doesnt work too well. I do a mixture of both. Kind of hold the stock in your shoulder. This might help. Just some things to try after you get some consistent loads.

There was no mirage, it was cloudy and late in the evening and cool.

You may fare better shooting in that mild push rather than wait for still air. I find shooting in late evening not conducive to accuracy, that's when thermals start moving and they're so subtle they are difficult to pick up....best to shoot when you can see what's going on out there, like that very light breeze you waited on.

A good point was made regarding seating off the lands. My rifle shoots very well with Berger 95 gr vld 29.1-.5 gr varget, jumped not jammed.
