Range results 115 Berger VLD mm Creedmoor

I seated the 115 berger VLD 2.908 RE#26 44.2grs produced average velocity of 3135 SD of 18.0 1/2 MOA
With same bullet, seating 2.895 H4350 38.5 grs produced average velocity of 2945 3/8ths MOA SD of 8.2
Shot out of 26" Bartlein bbl 7.5 twist . For PRS shooting the Re# 26 is nearly 200fps faster . But the H4359 SD
is lower. Is it 6 of one and half a dozen of another ?

Maybe stepping outside my lane, because I do not shot PRS, however I do shot PRS distances. I also shot a Creedmoor with similar results. In my opinion, you do not need the horse power that the RE#26 is giving you at those distances. Accuracy and consistency is much more important. I have always leaned on the side of accuracy over speed. Kinda goes back to what they always say, if you cant hit it, what does it matter?
The horse power is only going to apply at distances well past where you are shooting to.

Remember, this is just my own opinion and you may get better advice from the PRS pros!

Thanks
Rob

38.5gr of H4350 seems to be on the light side, you may be in the low node there. I'm running 40.0gr in a 6XC and getting 3064fps. The Creedmoor case should be able to match those velocities pretty easily. Are you seeing pressure signs at that charge weight?

I agree with STOMP, you should be able to get more out of H4350. I would go with H4350 if it groups decent. It burns cooler and slower in the barrel according to Quickload and that should really help save on throat erosion compared to RL26.

My best accuracy loads with the 115's runs from 38.6 to39 grains RL 16. Around 3000 FPS. I shoot this load in 1000 yard BR. For hunting and steel plinking out to a mile I step it up to either 41 grains RL 16 or RL 26 load to get 3100-3150 range. I wouln't shoot the fast load in a competition that is putting a lot of rounds down the barrel fast.

What twist barrel? And assuming this is from a 25 Creedmoor?
