Randolph Front Rest

I just bought a Randolph Machine rest and I have a lot of slippage in the windage adjustment. I have to turn knob 1 1/2 turn before it will move. Is that normal? Do you have slippage in yours?

Ahh u said windage....

The knobs must be spinning in place.
There's a thread here on that. Search adjusting Randolf rest on Google it comes up

You can tighten the belt. Turn it over and see the slide the bolt is in.

OR .... The shaft needs oiling so it's not so hard to raise.

You've got to kinda figure that out. Move the belt by hand to see if it's slipping or the pin raising.

Do you have a front rest or a 1 pc. rest?
Both designs work against a springs. You don't want to work either rest in the "relaxed" position. If you're backed all the way off the drive pin also may not be contacting the base. In other words work with tension on the springs.
Does it happen every time you make an adjustment?
Does it happen it both directions? In either of the last 2 I'm guessing its in the adjustment knob/sprocket(1 pc).
I have both rests & the only way I could see this happening is if you're backed all the way off. Don't expect 100% full travel. More like 90ish%.

I had one just like yours. Just send it back they will fix it super fast and cover the postage. Great people to work with. Call them first and explain the problem. They just sent me the parts and I returned to old one. You will be very pleased with the personal service. I love my rests and wouldn't use anything else.

Called Randolph and they got me a whole new rest and it works great. Seems ups dropped the first one and damaged it. They are super nice people to work with. VERY happy with rest
