Rail Gun question

Larry Koch

Silver $$ Contributor
I have this old rail gun. Don’t know much about it. See pic. Going to bring it back to life. My question is should I just bolt the barrel directly between aluminum blocks or make a delrin sleeve ??.. Oh barrel will be threaded and crown tonight big match next weekend so.

What say you.

Thx

Clamp on the barrel. Many are shot that way.
I'd make a thin split sleeve of a thermal stable material that doesn't cold form and turn a section of the barrel to match but that's just me.
You would reduce the diameter of the barrel and sleeve it at the clamp area?
Im using a1.25“ barrel, it was suggested the lighter dia. works better in there light rail guns.

Order some Delrin to make a thin sleeve. Just in case it’s needed.
Thanks for all your input. Will let you no what the target says.

Will do. I’m getting sympathy PMs on how old it is. So Im up for any information to improve my chances.

Took it to the range Monday morning. Got it all setup. Shot a few rounds and had it zeroed on paper.
Wind was 5 to 15 mph already at 8am. picked another dot on the carboard target and fired some old ammo from our monthly match. 7 shots measured .22 inches. Most when into one little hole and there was a flyer to the left. Which I belive was a bad wind call. 100 yards. Packed up, and now getting ready for the first UL match.
