Radical True Velocity Ammo Failures

A friend gifted me a box of True Velocity .308 ammo. I took them to the range today to see what they would do and here are the results. One pierced primer and two blown necks. These cartridges are advertised to be the latest and greatest but the results say otherwise. The blown (separated) necks required the chambering (partial) of another round to extract. The pierced primer was a total surprise as I have never before experienced one in thousands of rounds fired. Imagine if you are hunting and shoot at a game animal and require a quick follow up shot. I chronographed the twenty rounds and had an ES of 42 on rounds that are supposedly loaded to 0.01 grains. These TV cartridges are junk. Don't waste your money. BTW, my rifle is a Howa 1500 mounted on an MTG ESS chassis. It typically shoots 3/4 to 1 moa at 200 yards and has never given me a problem in 450 firings. I shoot hot loads too.

Dude, you need to borescope your chamber to make sure that didn't torch cut gouges in our chamber!

did you search the box for "Game friendly" written somewhere?
or "California Approved"? lol.

I guess they'll have to marketing a polymer vapor deposit remover bore cleaner.

But then again, if you're shooting these you might not know a lot about barrel maintenance.

I

My dad remember the Wanda shells. I can barely remember Eclipse shells, I've shot a ton of Activ shells in a wore out Model 12.
The Wanda case was moulded from polycarbonate plastic. Activ was polyethylene plastic with a steel head. It was a good shell. I never heard of Eclipse shells but heard good things about their targets

Let the military sort out the problems. I and most others here have no use for these. Lots of marketing hype about uniformity. Weigh saving is their advantage.

While I try to keep an open mind on innovations, this one feels like one of those solutions for a problem that does not exist.

There is enough existing issues to deal with trying to maintain a precision rifle, why introduce another variable? Hell, we haven't even figured out a universally accepted method on how to clean a rifle yet.

I don't believe the military has stayed with them either. Another way to try and reduce weight. Just stick to good olf tried and true brass.
