Quigley Match this week end

Anyone in Montana might be interested in the Quigley Match held in Forsyth Rifle and Pistol Club in eastern Montana June 15/16 and the 17 is a rain make up day. A friend here in my town shots it every year. Rather fun to watch a steel buffalo at 1000 yards being shot at with a black powder and iron sights. It would be a great day break from a dog shooting week...I love watching them you might also....

That’s on my bucket list in the next few years. I’ve watched a lot of the Sagebrush Longshot’s on YouTube. It’s pretty amazing shooting the distances they do with vernier sights, black powder, and lead bullets!

I tried to shoot it this year but screwed the pooch on my first target. I shoot paper patched bullets. My luck with my 45-90 has always been hit or miss. I either tear up the targets or everyone wonders what I am aiming at. lol. I figured it out finally. It seems the thickness off the paper had better be as thick as the grooves are deep, or you will lead the bore.

I ended up not shooting after that first target. The Montana 1,000 is coming up in July. Maybe I can redeem myself.

Hal, It was 550'ish on Friday morning. I don't know what the final number was, but the camping area was packed.
