Welcome to AccurateShooter BenMc.
I'm not the greatest statesman or very tactful. This may come out more strongly worded than I intend. It is really a light conversational counter to your public expressions.
You didn't "offend me" or "struck a nerve". The maker of QuickLoad is not here to defend himself. He is German. They detest the very model you propose for revenue maximization. They still live in a world of trust and relationships. Pirating software is and always has been the act of a creep. Pointing out how easy it would be to pirate to possible customers, there by killing the revenue you espouse is uncool. This is a time when your opinionated comment "looks like something I made when I was a beginner" and your other opinionated comments regarding anti piracy methods ads no value to yourself, the maker or the world. You are of course entitled to your opinions. I am entitled to disagree with them and offer my counter opinion if you choose to share them rather than keep them to yourself. When I was your age, if I had the kind of "opinion" you express and perceived a market opportunity, I kept my mouth shut and made a better mouse trap. If I did not perceive a market, I kept my mouth shut out of respect for my fellow craftsmen. That is why I have time for what I enjoy.
Yeah, it did come across pretty aggressive. I in no way intended to advocate software piracy or kill the revenue, but I have to essentially go through the same steps in order to install the program on my laptop which has no optical drive. You obviously have much more experience and knowledge than I do in the matter of software development as well as the specifics of the gentleman who writes this particular piece of wonderful software so thanks for explaining where you're coming from.
Keeping your mouth shut when you have an opinion, in my opinion, is more of a personality thing rather than a generational thing so I don't really put any value in the "when I was your age" statement. I will admit putting down the website design was uncalled for, I apologize for that. At least it IS easy to navigate which is more than I can say for many pages.
Anyway, technicalities and explanations aside, I still wish it was distributed digitally, I just didn't think that anti-piracy was a valid reason to only distribute on CD by mail.
An ugly opening to my membership on this forum, sorry everyone! I look forward to picking your brains and pulling from all the experience on here.
