Quickload request...223

Hoping some kind soul with Quickload might provide me with the following data:

5.56 chamber (223 Wylde would work too)
18" barrel, 1:8 twist
RP brass
77gr SMK @ 2.260" OAL

I'm interested to know the charge weight and velocity for IMR 8208XBR and Varget at 55k and 60k PSI pressure.

And if you're feeling generous this new year:

223AI
22" barrel, 1:7 barrel
Nosler brass
80gr A-Max @ 2.485" OAL

Interested to know charge weight and pressure at 2900fps velocity with IMR 8208XBR.

Many thanks!!!

Without knowing the case capacity all you'll get is a guess that may be way off.

You'll have to forgive me, I thought QL had capacities for certain types of brass pre-set...but a guess is about all I'm looking for - just an apples-to-apples comparison between Varget and 8208XBR.

Let's call case capacity 30.1 for 223 and 32.4 for the 223AI.

I'm looking less for exact stuff, and more the difference between the two powders. I can use actual recorded data from my rifles and interpolate from the QL data.

Thanks again!

BoilerUP, QL does have default settings but using your actual measurements will give you more accurate results. I ran the two powder for the AI as close to the 55, 000 psi range as I could get and using QL's default OAL of2.260 24Gr's of Varget will run at approx. 54,691psi @ 2736fps, with 97.33% Powder Burn and 28.6% Efficiency. 23.0 Gr's. of 8208XBR will run at approx. 54,565psi @ 2733 fps. with 98.98% Pwdr Burn and 30.8% efficiency.

For the .223 using your 30.1 volume and QL's default OAL of 2.260, 21.6Gr's. of 8208XBR will run at approx. 53,636psi. @ 2627fps with 97.15 Pwdr Burn and 27.9% Ballistic efficiency. With 23.5Gr's. of Varget you will run at approx. 53,267psi @ 2615fps, with 94.66 Powder Burn and a Ballistic Efficiency of 25.7%

Hope this is what you were looking for, remember these numbers are only projections, if you seat your bullets deeper into the case or Jam them into the rifling, pressures will increase. If you haven't fired loads with these powder quantities I would suggest backing off a grain or so and work back up slowly watching for signs of pressure. Good Luck
