QuickLoad Question

Question for you guys that use QuickLoads
I just got mine roughly a week ago and I’m totally new to using it but I think I got basics down.
I’m little confused and more concerned with some data I’m getting for a 300 RUM.
I punched in all my load info, COAl, Case Trim, Bullet Length, H2O case capacity, barrel length etc. etc.
With all that punched in, QL is saying that I should have a VELO of 2885 fps. and it stats there is plenty of room before max pressure, roughly around 57,500.
I have magneto chronograph and I’m getting consistent readings of 3080 fps with this load.
With that, I adjusted the burn rate and have to come up almost 20% to get around 3080 fps and when doing it, it’s showing that the pressure is WAY over max, close to 6000psi over?
I have zero pressure signs, no bolt issues and have shot many rounds with this load from sea level to 9000’.
Am I missing something or doing something wrong?
If anyone has QL, maybe I could pass you on my data and see what you come up with and we can compare the two.
Maybe it’s the chronograph?

I can’t help ya with quick load but as far as your chronograph I don’t much like it but I believe there fairly accurate

Did you change your weighing factor from default. This can change the pressure a lot.

Check your screen for "weighing factor and change the setting from .7 to.36 Then reset your burn rate factor to default and punch in your #'s. Once you get this done then re-adjust your burn rate factor to match the vel and see if this is better.
 
In all honesty I don't know much about this myself , just have a table of Pierre Vander Walt weighing factors that are to be used with QL to make the result more accurate, and they work for me.

What did you use for the H2O case capacity? You may be using capacity of a case that's been FL sized where you should be using the case capacity of an unsized fired case? per QL instructions??

Is the load compressed at all?

Is the round touching or into the lands?

If any of the latter 2 you may need to make adjustment to the Shot Start (Initiation) Pressure. (hold the cursor over the field to see the pop up information).

How about temperature?

As mentioned, an adjustment to the Weighting Factor can help you line up the velocity along with the burn rate factor.

Though it's remotely possible that it's the chrono, IMHO, it's not likely given it's a MagnetoSpeed.

If you use any other cartridge or bullet with that same powder and have any chrono data with it, you should compare it and see if you get the same difference. I can tell if my QL setting are working well when I compare different cartridge loads using the same powder and get the same (or very close to the same) results.

You guys have me scratching my head as to what this is. I can't open the chart on my computer. Is there another method of displaying it? I've never heard of this before....

Who is this guy? I am always looking for ways to make Quickload more accurate, and am wondering, does he have anything to do with Quickload's developement? I just want to know where this data came from.
Never mind.... I just realized I have a thing called Google right in front of me! Lol
 
That did it!
Adjusted the factor and then adjust the Ba and with 8% increase put me right at 3080fps

Do you always modify your “weighting factor” from the default?

I always use the factors displayed in the table @jepp2 displayed. I find the program work much better this way. Of course along with all the other rifle specific data.

If those figures do tend to produce more accurate results, I am surprised that Neco doesn’t change the default numbers to match.
 
For a cup/core bullet the start pressure is 3625 psi, if it is jammed add 7200 psi, this gets 10 825 for a jammed cup and core bullet. if said bullet is off the lands subtract 29 psi per every 0.001".
So if your 0.010" off subtract (29x10= 290) 10 825 - 290= 10 535 psi is your start pressure.

Adjustments of 4% bullet weight, 10% weighting factor and 5% burn rate. If all you weights and measures are exact so will be your velocity prediction.
