Quickload for Cast Bullets

Cast bullets supposedly reduce pressure, all else being equal. As far as I can tell, Quickload mostly does jacketed bullets, although there is a box where you can input a factor for reduced friction, mostly for moly coated bullets. I almost always end up inputting my own bullet dimensions anyways, since their database on bullets is very small. Would like to be able to use the program to preidict cast bullet internal ballistics. Anybody have any experience with this?

I have used Quickload extensively this last year for cast bullets. I use a Hoch 30 cal mold 215 grain weight. Since that is not listed, I substitute the Lyman 311284 bullet which is the same length and weight for a satisfactory approximation. I have found this software to be remarkably good to model many loads with different powders. In the 30BR, I found IMR 3031 to be an excellent choice, although it is not commonly used in CBA registered matches. Choosing the correct seating depth is important, since that will affect case volume. I use a chronograph to compare predicted velocities with measured velocities. I haven't found a great need to change the starting pressure. I use the ~1120 psi most of the time for cast bullets. I always seat my bullets into the riflings. I really like to look at the pressure curve vs velocity. How else could one compare all the IMR, Hodgen, Vihtavouri, Accurate and other powders in an evenings setting?

Good Luck.
