I am shooting a barnes solid with 3 grooves in it.
The barrel is 11" twist.
The 28 gr load of RE10x is compressed heavily.
Quick load says my pressure is 106K !!!!
There are NO pressure signs. No case expansion, No flat primers,
no swipes, no leaking primers nothing.
Do you think the slower twist is lowering pressure?
what about the grooves?
what about the compressed load?
all 3 together?
Has anyone experienced this before?
After running more test and comparing signs on other loads I've come to an answer. I think.
With 110vmax and 115SMKs Quickload hit the velocities dead on with the charge I used. Pressures in both cases were 65000+- when signs appeared.
With both barnes bullets the velocities were way off 130-190fps.
working backwards from 30.5 gr to 29gr I hit the velocity I had in the field with the 110 TSX and 66000psi. It seems that I am getting 13000 psi less than QL shows and also less speed.
