Quick detach rings/who makes the best?

I'm looking for a set of quick detachable rings that have a good return to -0-. In your opinion, who makes the best.

Personally I think they all Suc..Leupold & Tally both have failed me in the screw dept..They break pretty easy.. You can remove Burris rings just as fast w a screwdriver or a coin..Save the money..I switch my good scopes around occasionally & I'm getting to really like the idea of standardization..Warne bases, Burris Rings with the zee inserts...Keep it simple as possible fewer headaches...Mike in Ct

I absolutely agree with Mikeinct. If you want your rifle to be accurate, forget about the detach rings. Oh yea, I've got a couple sets of high end rings sitting around because I really like the Burris Zee rings with inserts! Wanna buy some nice 30mm Badgers or NF?

Another vote for Warne QD rings. I tried the Leopold rifleman rings and they were junk IMO. The recoil lug was round and did not make a solid contact with the base. The only contact is a round rod(lug) against the top edge of a square base. The round lug would try and climb over the base. This was on a 350RemMag 673 Guide. The Warne rings have a square recoil lug.

I use the quick detach Zee rings from Burris on a routine basis in XTC shooting whereas I will move the scope from standing to sitting to prone all in the same day.

I don't store any of my rifles with the scope(s) on them. I use Leupold QRW, never let me down in the field or on the range.

I use Warne QD rings on most of my rifles. Never had an issue with returning to zero. My RRA AR has it's scope removed and reattached every time. No problems. They also give you the option of having 2 scopes set up for the same rifle.

The cam lock style rings, in my opinion, offer a more reliable return to zero. The cam does it all, the same way, each time.
The screw or nut locking style are dependent on you torquing them the exact way each time. torque the rear too much and the front too little and you could be pulled to the left or right depending on which side you have the screw or nut on.

That's actually not correct. The screw/nut locking style (like all of them I imagine) are not (mostly, except in the case of gross error) dependent on torque to return to zero - one side of the ring is fixed and that's what gets you back to zero. I've even put the scope in a different slot in the base and still returned to zero. The torque simply gets you a tight connection to the base. I hand tighten mine and I guarantee they are not exactly torqued each time I put them back on. Return to zero has never been an issue. I imagine the only time that would not be true is if I failed to tighten them enough and left the ring loose on the base.

As the OP, I guess I should make things a little more clear. I am, as well as several other people that replied to this thread, sling/prone shooters and we are constantly changing between scopes and irons. Having said that, I have a couple of the F-class Big bore Panda actions from Kelbly's Inc. They have an intergal picatinny rail machined into the receiver. I have two 30mm scopes both equipped with brand "L" QRW rings. At my last match, after unpacking my gear, I saw that the recoil lug in the front ring had fallen out during my sight changeover. Being ever so hopeful that it was either in my rifle case or my scope case, I proceeded to tear all my equipment down, looking in every nook and cranny but to no avail. I called the company and to their credit, they are sending me one each of the old style and the new. The other side of the coin is what would I have done if this happened at the Nationals in a week or so? The guy I talked to did his job, but he made me feel like I was wasting his time. No, I'm not gonna slit my wrists over it, I'm just saying is all.
I haven't had a chance to look at the LaRue rings, but the A.R.M.S. rings look really robust, but those people are sure proud of them at $130.00 Regardless, I'm going deal hunting and I'll report back.
