What case has more capacity the .243 or the 6.5 x 47L necked down to 6mm?
Can they both run equal weight bullets about the same velocity?

John,
What's the difference between your 243br & a 6br? Or is it just two different names? Anyone?

6mm Rem is a skosh bigger than the .243, fits in Med-length action; and has a better shoulder angle.

6 X 284 is also all those things, and has even greater powder capacity than the 6mm Rem and .243 Win.

The .243Br is properly called the .243BRK. Thank's to the dimensional work done Dave Kiff of Pacific tool for me.

The .243BRk is a dimensionally correct 6Br. extended to the length of a .243W. case. the finished neck and the shoulder angle match the 6Br. It could have been called the 6Br.long or we could try 6Br x .243W.
I usually use the Lapua .243W brass. All-tho I find all name brands of brass work just fine.
We do get a custom full length sizer made by Hornady. They do have the print from Pacific tool. We do use a standered 6Br. neck sizer and seater dies.

Currently their is Two Additional cartridges very close to the same spec's.
The 6MM superX by Robert and
the 6mm comp match by Joe

If not the 6BRK I would recommend the 6MM superX. He's very reliable.
In any case I would recommend that you have your bolt bushed for the higher pressures. Think Greg @ Gre-Tan.

I know, I know, Cheechako is saying " not another .243 ". He must have a 100 variations in his collection by now.

John,
Thanks for the reply. I just got my bolt back from Greg T & guess what? No more cratering. I was cratering at just 29.5 gr varg. Greg does do great work. Can't wait to move up now.

Hey John

You read my mind!

I am in the process of writing a short article on the 243 Winchester,6mm) and the theme is that it all started back in 1951 with the 240 Page. It's interesting how we have come full circle because most of the long BR cartridges are really the 240 Page with other names. I doubt if the Page or any of it's clones will ever become legitimate factory cartridges now that we have the two Scandanavian 47mm cases to work with but if it does happen it will be interesting to see what Remchester calls it.
