Questions for a Varmint rig and caliber

So I have decided to do a budget build varmint rifle to play in the gopher fields this coming summer. Here is what I picked out so far.

Stevens 200 Action
Bell and Carlson Vertical Grip Tactical Style stock
Timney trigger

I have decided on the 6mm BRDX just to be different but not complicated. Here are my questions

1- Which Stevens action and caliber from the factory to build this off of to prevent too much modification. And will this cartridge work well in a Stevens action?
2- Whats my best bang for the buck options for a barrel?
3- What is the best twist rate for shooting 70-75gr Varmint bullets?
4- What is a optimal barrel length for this round without getting too long?
5- Which Varmint bullets to give me the best visual effects in the field, providing they shoot well in the rifle)
70gr Nosier BT / Sierra Blitz king
75gr V-max
Others?

I thank anybody that takes the time to answer all my questions I do appreciate it. I know it's not a fancy custom build but I have a custom 6.5x47 Lapua target rife on the go that's taking most of my extra funds. I just happen to have that new gopher rifle itch that needs scratching.

Thanks again

Jason

i'm bulding a similar gun. went with a 7mm08 in a stevens 200, already got a 243 stevens barrel from the last gun i put together. that 243 shot .6" 3 shot groups, not bad for a sporter barrel. i went with a 6mmbr 8 twist barrel from fred moreo, still waiting for that. fred moreo trigger, and choate ultimate varminter stock. a barrel from fred was 320.00 shipped, but no 6mmbrx reamer does fred have. for lighter 70 grain bullets maybe a 9 or 10 twist. 6mmbr should be fast enough with 70 grainers. i'm going to shoot 107smk. one thing you should know is bell and carlson have no stocks for the 4.4" stock spacing, just the 4.275, to my knowledge. i was looking at the medalist and would have bought one if it would fit. hope this helps a little, cliffe

1. A current Stevens short action that has a .308 bolt face. I'd
suggest the Savage Target Action instead of the Stevens though.

2. Shilen prechambered SS from Jim @ Northlander

3. 1 in 12" for sure for 87V-max and lighter, ,most will say 1-8")

4. One thin hair shorter then what you think is too long......

5. 75 V-Max but the other two are red-mist impressive as well.
