Questions about using pin gages for neck expanding

I used to do a lot of Cast Bullet stuff, so I am very familiar with the Lyman M-Die. I order pin gauges to the sizes I want, go a buy a 9/16 x 18 bolt ( that's the thread for the insert of the M-Die ). Chuck up the bolt in a lathe, center drill a hole ( I ordered a .284 and .308 drill bit). A little Lock-tite and I have my mandrel. Used them for several years now....

thanks..
ii get cold feet when I see no price listed
collets and pins are available everywhere
think i'll do some die body shopping

Shoot Ken Porter an email, and he'll reply within a day.
A couple months ago, $85 die, $25 collet, gage pins $10 (he tapers them, so cost more than pins from other suppliers), and add $10 shipping.

I have a question.
What's wrong with using the $5 pins that go into the Lee Collet Die?
They offer regular and undersize pins.
You would have to turn the little flange off the top for most holders.
