Question?

I shot these 2 groups about 2 weeks ago

OK. If you are satisfied, then go forth and be happy.

If you are NOT satisfied, you may find you need more than a re-crown on your factory barrel.

2 - 3 shot groups from 1 particular day do not mean very much. Sometimes, a young Hunter harvests a trophy his first outing. How horrible for the Hunter. For now, they must find a new pursuit or languish for untold seasons trying to best themselves.

It's all about expectations.

Yes,it shot good that day
Yesterday not as good,I can take pictures tomorrow of the targets

I agree with Ledd Slinger. For a factory rifle, that is quite impressive. If it is repeatable on 3 separate days, it is astounding.

You may also find you are facing a reality many simply refuse to see.

I wish you all the best, no matter where your path leads.

Assuming it's not fouling causing the issue, does the rifling truly go all the way to the edge of the bore? It's easy to tell. You will seel the profile of the rifling right up to the beveled edge of the crown.

Here's a picture of a crown from a Lilja barrel I took off one of my hunting rifles this year. You can easily see how the rifling goes all the way to the edge of the bore.

I took it out yesterday, and it wouldn’t group to good, and I did notice it after I cleaned it last time.maybe I do need to get try something different

My experience with Savage barrels is they like to shoot dirty. They do need a good cleaning once in awhile but when you remove all the copper and carbon from the barrel imperfections groups open up. I'll bet after you put 20-25 rds through it your groups will come back.

As others have said, let the target drive your decisions. Don't give up on your current load yet.

Good Shooting

I found the same with their 17HMRs.

I've found the same issue in some barrels..They shoot better dirty or not really clean ?? I can't say why, just an observation...Mike in CT

And then you litterally continued to tell the guy to contact the manufacturer or cut the end of his barrel off. That's what most would call jumping to conclusions...

Well we can see you are a spelling genius as well as displaying an inability to understand that your claim of an alleged CONCLUSION on my part (pure BS on your's) was intended as a fix IF the barrel turned out to be defective. But of course you are out to argue so I'll just consider the source. Apparently you do live up to your handle in liking to SLING more than lead.

LOL! Not gonna bite bud. Wasnt trying to argue. Just stating lets get clear facts before we offer a solution. Sorry if i hurt your feelings. Hope those insults make you feel better. Putting you on my 'ignore' list ;)

Funny thing....I received some "Likes" to my post before you popped up to take exception to my words. Oh well, tells me a good deal about you. And I can see the truth hurts as well. But I am very humored that I've made your "ignore" list....boo hoo..... that really hurts. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay warm!
