Question on neck area of chamber

Bc'z, what caliber is yours? I wonder if this may be specific to certain calibers? Or maybe the piston driven system is somehow better in regard to extraction and they feel the extraction grooves are not needed?

Christmas present from wife 3 years ago.
I was curious about the piston operating system also.
Or is this a new design on the latest models?

Bc'z, this rifle was recently purchased...it actually is my brothers and he bought it a couple of months ago. He really doesn't have much in the way of "guns" let alone cleaning supplies/tools for an AR. I told him to not fire the rifle without cleaning the barrel first...he then decided to bring it over and let me get it all set up for him. I mounted the scope, cleaned the barrel, etc and was going to zero it. So I don't know how long POF has been using this "technology" but the rifle was a recent purchase.
I have not had extraction issues with any of my AR's, so naturally I am skeptical as to the validity in needing these flutes to aid in extraction...interesting concept and maybe a good marketing tool...I also don't think it compromises anything either, so hopefully the rifle shoots well.
I would still be interested to know the process used to "cut" the flutes in the neck. I still assume it has to be edm or something like that.

I know POF is proud of thier pattens, 13 of them at the I got mine, possibly more now.
So its possibly a marketing tool.
Maybe give them a call and see what they say.
As far as how well they shoot...
No complaints here!
But you may find yourself loading for your brother. Lol

I talked to my brother about it and he said he thinks he remembers reading where they don't flute the neck on the piston driven systems...only the direct impingement systems.
I am sure I will be loading for him...Lol
