Question on a Remington 700 serial number.

I have a STRIPPED Remington 700 VTR action in 223. Serial starts with a RR and ends in a letter.
This is a new stripped action, recoil lug and barrel and never left Remington as a complete rifle. It has not been proofed but it does have the Magnaflux mark on the barrel.

My question is was it common for Remington to use a letter at the end of a serial number?

I have handled close to 30 with the M suffix. All of them came to me new, most from distributors. I got the first one in late 2019. I have not seen any with an N, so it may be the last of Remington's production. The new actions have a RAR prefix and no suffix. The headspace has been held very close on the 60 some actions I have measured in the last 5 years that came with Remington bolts. Primary extraction is hit or miss. The handfull of M actions I got from PTG with their bolts had good extraction until I fixed the headspace. Then their extraction was hit or miss too.
