How do you deal with compressed loads in seating the long bullets to magazine length?
^^this. I have used Varget with compressed loads and have become used to the ring dents on the ogive when "crunching" down a Sierra 77gr onto a 23.5+gr charge. I am currently trying CFE223 and RL15.
I have also spent quite a bit of time finding steel or aluminum magazines that let me get at least 2.275 OAL. When all else fails I have been known to trim meplats as a last resort.
I will be following this thread!
ASC mags will allow you ~.040" additional COAL over the standard 2.260".

If you are talking about 80gr bullets, single load. For 69's, 77's etc. seat them to normal mag length and don't worry about it. No need to heavily compress loads, doing so can and most likely will produce inconsistency.

So, do you only shoot 80 gr in slow fire and 77gr & under for rapid fire?
Pour the powder can less.
This is not a game of speed, since it doesn't take much to kill paper, and the cartridge is a pipsqueak ANY way you load it.
If you want more cartridge, then choose that, but don't try to make the .223 a .22-250.
Things break. Your face can be one.![]()
So, are you a High Power Rifle competitor with the AR15?

Yes. I see Hengehold already answered. So, do you only shoot 80 gr in slow fire and 77gr & under for rapid fire?
Well, I can't say's I necessarily deserve that, but I appreciate it anyway!natdscott is probably the most qualified person registered on this forum to speak of AR15 High Power loads. Yes he is legit, I recognize his name from the US Rifle Teams forum, which is pretty heavily High Power.
