Quality VLD Bullets ?

I'm looking ont the net for custom makers of VLD bullets in .308 165gr to 175 gr and for 6mm 100to 107 gr. Most of what i see is usually for benchrest 6ppc type stuff for short range.

You should also check out Hornady A-Max and Match bullets; their quality control is superb. Better yet, they're readily available and reasonably priced, significantly less than the green boxes).

You may want to check out Berger Bullets.... They are very popular in F-class shooting and the .308 cal. 155 VLD's are even being used in Palma shooting

By the way Monty, it's ironic you mentioned the Wilcat bullets. I had never heard of them till a couple of monthes ago. Their from that company up in Canada aren't they ? Have you tried any of them ? I was thinking about trying their .257 bullets in my .25-06 hunting rifle.

I haven't tried them yet... I've been using a whole bucket load of Bergers though ;)

Mostly where I've heard about them off and on for the last couple years is on longrangehunting.com... a prominent gunsmith on that forum seems to like them, and others do too.

Kind of spendy for the volume that I tend to shoot. I make good money at my job, but my wallet yelps buying Bergers as it is. $42/100 is a bit rich for me. Guess I'll just have to hold harder instead :D

I would like to try some, someday, on some project like a long range hunting rifle, etc. Someday. :thumb:

Here Here, Monty

I also shoot buckets and buckets of Bergers ! I have five barrels on two different actions that all love Bergers. I Shoot the 6mm, 6.5mm, and 7mm and love the consistancy and BC of the bergers in all those calibers. The cost of the 7mm 180gn bullets in my .284 Win. is killing me !

The Wildcats are even more expensive but to work up a hunting load and practice a little bit before hunting season won't be nearly the volume of bullets I shoot in F-class matches and LR practice per month which is now pushing 300 bullets per month !

I think I'll break down and by a couple of boxes of .257 wildcat ULD's to try in my .25-06 for hunting. Here in Texas the .257 heavy weight bullets will cover everything we can hunt in the state !

I bought all kinds of bullets years ago, now about the only ones I use for everything are the Berger VLD's, or flat base, they all seem to shoot very well.
I buy them by the bunch whenever they are on sale.
For example Midway has .224 52 grain flat base's for less than $20.00 a box of 100 now and I'll send in a order for enough to burn my 14 twist 22BR up......
