Spin it backwards as you adjust it til you feel it touch the leade, back the adj up and spin forward to see if it cuts. I look at the cutter with a loupe to see when it starts cutting so i can get a good starting point. Best advice you got was go slow and check often

NEVER EVER spin a reamer backwards!. This was lesson #1 in machine shop practice!

Tell that to the reamer mfr. i always miss putting in the fine print- do not spin the reamer backwards under pressure only to feel the lands

I've used mine for 308 barrels and I've had good results.

Turning the reamer backward as you keep moving it deeper, remember this is a hand tool not on a lathe, is how you feel the cutters bump the lands before you start cutting.

Looking at a freshly chambered barrel with the bore scope and after I lengthened it the cuts with the unithroater look smoother than the ones with the reamer on the lathe.

It is very easy to get an accurate cut. The lines on the front lock nut are .005, and if you are really particular you could probably get to .001 with careful use of the knurling on the rear lock nut. Personally, getting it to with in about ±.002 of where I want to be, and then knowing that number gets me to where I seat.

I shoot F class, not BR, so I don't know if it will give you the accuracy you need for 1 hole groups, but for me I get the seating depth I need for long bullets and 200/300 yard precision in the .3 range if the wind is calm.
