PTG Ejector Pin

Having trouble locating the appropriate ejector pin for a PTG one-piece bolt. Standard Remington pin (older style non roll pin) is way too loose. Anyone know where to pick up the appropriate size roll pin? Can not get an answer from PTG!

5/64 x 3/8 coil pin/roll pin. Can probably find at a good hardware store. --Jerry

I probably would have turned a small nail down to snug fit and tapped it in gently.

Thanks Carlsbad. I found them online. No one locally had any the correct size. It appears the old fashioned hardware store is a thing of the past.

Careful with that. I've seen even the hardened spring pins wear thru.

Hobby stores have piano wire in many sizes that are useful for smithing .

Make a pin from the proper sized drill bit

Roll pins are a good choice for this application because you need the pin to stay in place. If the pin works it's way out it will score the bolt raceway. A roll pin fits a hole with a tolerance of .003 or .004". A solid pin of that size, to achieve a reasonabl press fit, needs to be oversized by .0001 or .0002", not much tolerance. Additionally, since the hole is designed for a roll pin, some manufacturers make them slightly oversized, since this makes the roll pin easier to install and remove without compromising reliability.

Use your drill bit set to gauge the size of the hole! Then, go to the hardware (or other source of your choice) and get the appropriate roll pin.
