PRS Shooters — Barricade Stop Rodeo

Brace elbow/forearm against the barricade and wrap your hand around he top of the scope. Light cheek pressure to help the wobble.

I’m about to order my first MPA chassis and I’m trying to decide on what accessories to buy. I have no desire to have a lightweight rifle to take hunting so I’m probably going with the competition model, which comes with a standard barricade stop. In looking at the other barricade stops, it seems like you could use the flat side of the cow gate as a regular barricade stop.

I run an MPA chassis in PRS competition. I have just the barricade stop that comes standard with the chassis. I have used it on a few stages here and there, it's a nice tool to have in the bag. I haven't personally felt the need for the cattle gate clamp and I also feel like I could get by just fine without any barricade stop if needed. Last match I shot in Utah had a 12 round stage that was 4 positions off a cattle gate. I don't think anyone in our squad used a the gate clamp even though most had MPA chassis. I used my game changer and went 11/12 (dropped the opening shot due to bad wind call).

One tip is to wrap the standard barricade stop in adhesive skateboard grip tape. This gives it a lot more bite into the back side of whatever barricade you're shooting off of.

As far as bags go, I like the Waxed Canvas game changer best. Have used pretty much all the options out there. All I need to bring to matches is the game changer and a small rear bag. I will carry a Weibad pump pillow since it's light, but honestly I only use it maybe on one stage every other match.

The last one that killed me was shooting off of the top of a step ladder for a barricade. I was wobbling so bad it was crazy. My muscle memory kicked into Service Rifle offhand mode and I tried to take up the first stage in my single stage trigger. That didn't work so well.

Practice and a good bag is what you need. Spreading legs helps like it does on a higher barricade. The higher you get off the ground the more wobble you will have but you can get better with practice. The Game Changer on a ladder works great and gets really stable. Try not to over pressure it as you can get more wobble on a prop like that. Evey one is different though so try different ways and find what works best for you to get stable. Free recoil is all the rage now but I don't like it at all. Some guys it works great for so you have to try different things.

I know if I'm going to play PRS I have to take the time to practice. It is a different skill set.

Your first picture is kind of where I was, except I'm 6'4" and I was shooting on the top step of the ladder. I forget the name but I've got a bag similar to your game changer but a litte smaller. The barricade wasn't the problem, I it was the bobblehead on the back.

The first shots were off the top one and you had to move down one step after two shots so different positions but similar methods.

My team mate has one for his AR he uses in 3 gun but I wouldn't want it attached like that for PRS as you might have to move or change position or slide the rifle around on the bag for a different height. I like the strap my team mate made and is selling on the game changer as it's fast on and off and easy.

No thoughts on the inflatable bags?

Never saw an inflatable bag but I can see a problem with them as the air won't conform as well as the fill in the other bags do. King of like grabbing a balloon on one side and the air shoots to the other. Unless they could do some sort of baffles. Who makes them?
