prs nrl live round in chamber after cease fire?

Not to derail this thread. What new Rimfire chambers are causing a loaded round to not extract a live 22lr round? I have used the Eley EPS and Lapua, Calfee chambers with great success and have NEVER had an issue pulling a live 22lr round out of the chamber?
I have been out of the 22 Rimfire game for some time so I am curious as to what is new that is causing this? To me.. even engraving that stupid little lead bullet... every action I have used has NO issues.
Now you all got me curious
Not sure about the Lapua, but the Eley EPS, Calfee 1, and Calfee 2 all use a lead angle of between 1.5 and 2 degrees. The old SAAMI Match chamber is 5 degrees, and not very forgiving, in my experience.
Thanks to all those chiming in with PRS experience. Have never even attended a match, as of yet.

Thank you Johnny,
No response on anything new in the world of 22lr chambers that would cause an undo amount of rounds sticking. So it is a rifle issue more so than a Chamber issue i guess? Only time i have an issue with extraction, is a dirty rifle, or a weak extractor. To me it does seem like a thing to be overly concerned about unless you shoot a brick of ammo and do not clean your bolt.

I believe the OP is referring to rimfire. There are MANY rimfire match chambers that won't extract a live round. I'm sure many guys will have tested and found that from a nice clean chamber they're able to extract live rounds. That's great, but don't assume it's going to work that way at the end of the day of competition.
I am interested to hear what experiences other guys have, as I'm thinking of entering some rimfire PRS shoots this summer.
I have shot more than my share of 22 in an Anschutz/Remington 40x and never dealt with this issue. If guns are being chambered this way, it is unsafe.

Not sure about the 40X chambers, but the Anschutz chambers have a 1/2 degree leade,(compared to 5 degree) and are 20 thou longer than a SAAMI match chamber.

It is certainly not an ideal situation to have a round stuck, but there are many, many guns out there that will do it from time to time.

Many rimfire rifles with match chambers will have issues with the extractor slipping off the fired case rim when trying to extract a round. That is just the way it is, so you need to physically check the guns chamber every time to confirm the chamber is empty.

One simple way that I use to extract stubborn rounds is to just use my fingernail or a small plastic
screwdriver to push and hold the extractor IN preventing it from jumping off the case rim while extracting the round.

Seems like each one is a potential liability if the gunsmith/manufacturer knows it's a known issue.

Most match rimfire chambers today will not extract a live round. For those of us in BR it has been this way for a long time. More and more NRL/PRS rimfire shooters have learned that ultimate accuracy comes from very specific chamber specs that does in fact contribute to a live round typically not extracting. This isn't necessarily unsafe, but some common sense has to be applied in situations where appropriate. In most cases of competition it's not an issue to clear the gun by firing it before calling the line 'officially' cold. In our games Cease Fire typically means stop shooting due to time or end of stage, etc, not necessarily a safety issue.

If it is a true safety issue, then one simply removes their bolts and uses a knife or something else to extract the round. The RO will call the line officially cold after checking all rifles have the bolts out (or a chamber flag) and the line is clear. It isn't a big issue.

The OPs question seemed specific to timing out on a stage with a round still in the chamber. I’ve never seen an RO not let someone send it down range. Not so say that one might not.

If it’s an emergency situation, that changes things. Bolt out and pry out the round is the usual solution

Really a pain to get the bolt outta my 10/22, though... But yeah, pretty simple pry out or just send it into a berm.

If I have learned anything about any competition regardless of the sport. And technique or method to get an edge will be used

And safety is not disregarded at all at matches.
As long as no one is down range with a rifle on the line with a live round in the chamber.

Much earlier in this thread, it seemed someone was saying that in an emergency, it was ok to have someone/people down range with a live round in the chamber.

I may be wrong, but
I don't believe there was mention of going down range while there was a stuck round in the chamber. It would be fired.

You're right. The post only referred to an 'emergency situation'. Didn't mention anything about people downrange.
It is/was my assumption that it was implied.
