Possible. I also noticed that some of them "key holed" through the target.

I had the CVA electric muzzle loader. It was unreliable, but it was definitely noticeably superior when it worked. If they can get electronic ignition stone reliable I will gladly revisit.

What if you're not shooting at magnetic targets?

I watched a video from Forgotten Weapons were that, cant call it a rifle, no rifling, projectile launching device was tested. I could see the slugs fly to the target. The projectiles are 1/2” steel dowels with two type cut to a shorter length. What is kinda interesting is the device is adjustable for the different length projectiles by adjusting the length of the magazine well. In my opinion, it’s a expensive toy. I also can imagine someone electrocuting themselves taking it apart for what ever reason. It has seven or eight rather large capacitors that accelerates the projectiles.

Some years ago I watched on one of the science shows on cable TV a guy who home built a electromagnetic rail gun. It was powered by an large external battery. It launched a aluminum projectile fast enough to penetrate a car door.
