Pro's and Con's of T/C Icon action for accuracy build?

As the title states, looking for pro's and con's of using a T/C Icon action for an accuracy build. Not so much for "bench rest accuracy", but for a general use target rifle capable of .5MOA accuracy. What kind of limitations would I be faced with, and what kind of issues are there with taking on a build like this? My reason for wanting to use it is based on how the action feels, as I really like the bolt throw and how smooth it works.

I know I could buy a Warlord and have 1/2 MOA accuracy, but the $3,000 :o price tag is a bit scary. Basically, I want something similar without the $3000 price tag.

If I'm barking up the wrong tree, just say so, as I won't be offended in the least. I have had bad ideas before, and I'm sure I'll have more, as this may be another.

Thanks
Kenny

I have contemplated the same idea. Action is well built and designed. If your primer strike is centered all it may want (but may not need) is to square up the face and lap the lugs if needed. I shoot Long Range and went with a Winchester because I found a used prone rifle ready to go for a great price and knew there were parts galore available for it. The only cons I can think of are:

1) integral picatinney bases don't offer enough range of for and aft adjustment for scope and/or sight use
2) one is stuck with the factory trigger - not that it can't be worked into a decent target trigger but it will never be a Jewel or Anchutz. One can certainly have something custom fitted of course
3) match parts in general will have to be custom - stocks come to mind right away. If you enjoy their tactical stock and can modify it to your needs, go for it.
4) I am hearing that the rifles have not sold well which makes me worry about factory part availability in the future.

Don't get me wrong, it can be a very accurate build and should make you happy for a long time. Heck, I started with a Ruger 77MKII which is still going with another shooter and it shoots extremely well. If you already own the rifle it will be economical for you. If not, you will be better off in the long run to buy a custom action/trigger and go from there. It will be a Rem. 700 clone-ish with ready to fit parts from anyone who services the target/match industry.
Good luck!

Why do Warlord Icons offer .5 moa and regular icons only offer 1 moa ? Email or phone T/C with the question. They may just give you the answer. Hurry before they close their doors, which is in the works. If they weren't $3k I'd have one too. Very Sako-like design.
