proper pronunciation of "lapua"

as long as I been shootin, I been sayin la-poo-ah all wrong. apparently it is pronounced lap-waa. at least according to bergers phone number answering machine thingy. just a useless piece of information, sorry y'all.View attachment 1069473

Google translate has it more like Luh'-pwa, with the accent on the first syllable, but definitely two syllables. Most folks, including me, say it (apparently incorrectly) using three syllables.

La-poo-ah has always sounded like something served at a Hawaiian luau to me. I like lop-wa much better but in this case, I find myself following the herd.

When I called them in Finland some years ago the young lady answered "...something, something, something, Laap-wua". If you watch the videos on their web site that is how they pronounce it. No matter, by now every knowledgeable shooter in the world knows who we are talking about.

It’s really pretty simple to figure out. Go to the Lapua website. They pronounce it lop waa every time! Just like Sako is pronounced socko! Seiko makes watches!

I was on YouTube some time ago with a rep from Lapua talking about some new product. His pronunciation was something like this: Lah (with the emphasis on Lah) poo ah. However, for me it is always going to be Luhpooa! The heck with it!

I'm Southern ( by the Grace of God ) and we pronounce everything wrong and don't care:eek:
I live in the community that is called Plateau. If you ask how to get there, around here, and pronounce it as the rest of the world says it - no one would know where you wanted to go.
