Proper follower for M700 6.5-284???

I am having a 6.5-284 hunting rifle made on a Remington model 700. The rifle was orignally a 270. I have another one and the cartridges feed ok, but I'm wondering if a follower for a magnum action would be better? Just looking to make shells feed easier. Since the 284 cases has a .500 base diameter, I thought perhaps the magnum follower would be better. Any thoughts or experience with this issue?
Thanks

I have a 6x284 built on a short action rem 700. It was originally a 22-250. I believe that the feed rails prevented smooth feeding from the magazine. It does feed but it seems that the rails really dig into the brass. I have considered opening up the rails but have not as of yet. Hopefully someone with experience with this will chime in. Good luck.
