Propane tank issues

Re-filler told me NOT to turn off the bottle after each use. That was because of that valve needing so much pressure to open up.

That was a "homer" thing for him to say. Now the bottle will leak out through the hose or fixture and need filling more often. Nuts to him but that could be the issue.

Well I went thru everything and I was told to check the torches, so I took one off and put it on a full bottle of propane I had and I got the same results as hooked to the large tank. So it appears for what ever reason the torches have gone bad.

James, before you spend money on a new torch, take a non-performing one apart, and see if there's liquid inside of it. If so, pour some solvent (e.g. acetone) through it, and blow it dry. See if that solves the problem.

Been there, done that, and didn't need a new torch after all.

Thanks, I'll give that a try tonight after work.

Are you getting no discernible flow or are the torches simply not lighting? If the torches aren't lighting, it could be that the hoses have not been completely purged of air. Just a thought.

I get a flame but no hot flame it's just like a candle lit. The torches I feel are the culprit since one didn't work on a full bottle of propane I had on the shelf. I just ordered two new torches and will take apart the old ones and clean them and if they work again I'll have spares.

I took the torches apart and flushed them with carb cleaner and blew them out. I now have one torch working correctly and the other won't even light. So I've ordered two more torches. And will dispose of the non working one and keep one as a spare.
