Proof research barrel

I have a zermatt origin I’m thinking of putting a proof carbon 223 profit on. It is a 20inch 8 twist. I’ve been looking and can’t find much about the accuracy of this particular barrel. These are around 800 and would like to have some kinda idea about what I’m getting. Any guidance about this particular barrel would be appreciated.

Many of our experiences with carbon wrapped barrels on any brand are that about 50% shoot very well, 20% are .7-.8 MOA at best, and 30% are just bad. The lighter contour carbon barrels like the sendero lite seem to have the most issues while the bull and magnum contours seem to shoot the best.

That said, all of the carbon barrel compromises are very good about warranty when their barrels don't shoot. Conversely, 90%+ of good quality steel barrels shoot well. Again, the very light contours are more prone to accuracy issues that are the heavier contours.

LOL! We have had lots of issues with Proof carbons and Christensens. We have had the best luck with heavier contour Bartlein, Benchmark, and Carbon Six.

The old Proofs are very good. The newer ones have been very inconsistent for us.

Its not the same once they stopped using bartleins and bought lawrence barrels or whatever that was. All of my personal ones and the blanks i have stuck back are bartleins from proof

I sure appreciate the advise. Looks like I might stick with steel. The worst thing would be to spend that kind of money and it not shoot. Thanks again.
