Proof Prefit Barrels -- Opinions?

I've never used a stainless Proof shouldered prefit and none of my shooting buddies have one.

What's a reasonable accuracy expectation from these barrels?

I have one installed in a RPR and after playing with seating depth its good for about 3/4" at 100 yards

What action is the pre-fit going on. I've been very happy with them, for the price, as a PRS shooter. I'm not an F-Class Shooter. They were for Impact Actions.

I am moving over to an Accuracy International and have one on order for it as well since I sold my Impacts.

That's my worry. I'd hate to spend $475 and wish I spent $675.

I guess it just depends on what your expectations are. Definitely didn't hold me back at all in PRS but not sure it would be a top-notch f-class barrel

Then get a heavy contour steel barrel and have it fitted by a good gunsmith. You don't need to have an LR BR Heavy Varmint taper unless you want LR BR accuracy, but get at least a #5 contour.

Heavy Palma is my preferred contour, the Proof competition contour was a compromise.

I just ordered two of the heavy palma contour blanks because Proof doesn't make 6 dasher prefits for Accuracy International, so having a local gun smith do the chamber work

Yep, it is. The MTU is a hair bigger than I want and Proofs contour is even bigger, by a lot.

I was fairly happy for a $900 rifle that has a mass produced pre-fit on it meant to accommodate a wide variety of bullets that shoots sub MOA. The total cost of the rifle is still less than most custom actions.

I have owned and shot several of their prefits. Some were better than others. The real benefit is having the ability to swap barrels and start shooting without all of the downtime waiting for one to be chambered. They are also available for a lot of different actions and can allow for someone perform a solid upgrade from factory as well. I was able to see some of them shoot around 1/2 MOA and others seemed to be not quite as good. However this can happen with a lot of barrels. I personally have not had a bad prefit barrel. Evolved Ballistics does carry a great assortment of them. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I ended up coming across one at a great price, when I wasn't even looking, and jumped on the deal.

Rounds 1-3 were to get a basic zero. Here's rounds 4-15.

I think there's a lot of potential here.
Chrono numbers looked promising.
This was just me shooting off a bipod on a bench. Hardly ideal.

I have 2 for my Impact action. 1 in 6.5CM and 1 in 6 Dasher. Both shoot great.

My 6.5 shoots great. This is about 10-15 rounds in during break in with factory Hornady Black. Shot several groups and was very happy with all of them.
