You hear a lot about Proof CF barrels, but can't find a lot about their SS barrels. How so they compare to a Bartlien or other top barrel manufacturers?
As @butchlambert points out.
Carbon wrapped barrels have not made it into commentary about competition.
There are a few articles, here is one: http://www.accurateshooter.com/guns-of-week/gunweek037/
A carbon wrapped or jacketed barrel from the more "mainstream" makers with a side by side comparison would be nice. 2 exactly same rifles, same barrel maker, one carbon wrapped, one "standard". A test protocol. Then someone willing and able to campaign in competition.
It's just a button rifled barrel with a 1/2 MOA guarantee just the same as all the
From the manufacturing description on their website I don't think so. Give them a call or send an email. Saw another article that says they do both. This is new to me, I thought they were cut rifled?

Like competitive in benchrest ?And they SHOOT
"They shoot" doesn't mean anything. There are plenty of very nice and straight barrels that are not capable of two MOA accuracy. I'm not down on Proof barrels in any way but I'd like more solid information than "they shoot". 1/4 MOA might be great in average shooting disciplines but in something like benchrest competition it wouldn't be remotely competitive. Does anyone have some real hard data to share ?They Shoot. They are very nice barrels and very straight. I have friends running them and have one waiting to be chambered.
they're cut. pre lapped and post lapped and conventional rifled, not 5r, if that gives you an idea of fouling. they are heat treated to relieve stress, so runout is low, but not honed, so there is usually some, as in .0005-.0015." i haven't started shooting any yet. there are a few barrels out in competition. the carbon fiber mostly in 3 gun type stuff but one did help win the 2016 wimbledon cup. another company shooter is using stainless bolt guns in 6.5 and 6 creedmoor in competitions, not sure the format. i'd like to think you wouldn't regret giving one a shot. not that bartlein and krieger aren't also excellent choices.
Decided to try one their SS before we recommended to others. Chambered one up to .284 and it was as accurate as any other maker and better than most. Had it shooting .3's right out the gate and very little copper fouling. Have chambered quite a few proofs since and they seem to be excellent in every way. Have not had a customer complaint yet. The only drawback was smaller quantities available at the time. Go for it!Exactly what I was looking for. Appreciated. Anyone else with experience please chime in.
