Carbon Six barrels ?

troupe

Gold $$ Contributor
Hello to all. I was wondering if anyone may have feedback on the Carbon Six barrels. I have never used a McGowen barrel, but everything that I see posted has good reviews. The inner barrel is a McGowen according to Carbon Six. I have had the Proof barrels, but the Carbon Six is a cheaper purchase.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

There are many places to save a few dollars. But, in my experience, I will happily pay for the best barrel available. Especially now, with the high cost of reloading components. If the cheaper barrel is the slightest bit picky with loads it will shoot, it may cost you more in the long run than the premium barrel. Been there and done that. Never again!! The aggravation alone is not worth it! At least to me. Good luck. :D:D

I am very happy with my 2 McGowen barrels. But, if I were going with a specialty project such as a carbon fiber barrel, I wouldn't want to risk getting a "barely MOA" barrel and would spend the money on the top brand. Just my opinion I own neither.

I have used both Proof and Carbon six barrels on builds. Only one Carbon Six thus far but have been very pleased with it. I chambered it in 6mmXC and will shoot groups like this all day long. I also have Mcgowen barrels on a few Savage target guns and they shoot just as well.

I've only been around two of Christensen's Carbons. Both were adapted to Model 70 Winchesters, a 300 Win Mag and a 7mm Rem Mag.
1) Both guns shot sub MOA angles where before they were terrible (hence the barrel changes)
2) Shaved gun weight noticably
3) Ugly (but I used to think synthetic stocks were ugly, too, and I got over it)
