Prone shooting glasses recommendation (no RX required)

Looking for good non RX prone shooting glasses. Should I go Hi/Lo Decots ( I like the adjustable bridge) or are there others to consider? With some glasses I’m looking through the top edge of the lens and there’s to much distortion.

Lot of folks over here liking the Pillas, though not sure how many in that thread are prone shooters. The company appears more focused on clay shooters and hunters given the color combos available. I'm sure they're magnificent lenses, but I admit that the price tag gives me pause.

I've used the Smith Optics Aegis Arc for the past couple years (though I'm not shooting much) since they're cheap and rated to the military standard for deployment, not just the ANSI standard. The fit on them was a bit odd compared to my Oakleys, in that they're a bit big even on my head. They're also hard to find at the moment, which makes me think Smith is phasing them out of production. Looks like they still have a few Echo II and Aegis Arc in their Asia Fit size.

I've also been a fan of Oakley Radars, based on how they sit on my face; the originals have been out of production for the last 4+ years, but the Radar EV model that replaced it has very similar lens coverage. Looks like Oakley has an industrial grade M-frame that might be an option for you, too.

What events are you shooting, and are you using a scope or irons? Anything brands/lines that you've tried already and know don't work?

Decots are good. I have had a pair of Rangers with the adjustable bridge for well over 10 yrs. I don’t think wrap around glasses will give enough air circulation to keep from fogging. While in prone.

Oakley Tombstone Spoil. It is an "open len" set with no top frame that would interfere with head angled vision. They also are higher on the top for same purpose. I use them for fclass with scope and also prone rifle with metallic sights and no visual interference. They are smooth with no distortion. I use the violet colored lens and it enhances the FOV nicely. They are offered in difference lens colors. They are pricey but again, Oakley. The benefits are described above. An indepth search on the web might get you a better price. I found mine at a significant reduction.

I don't like anything non prescription between my eye and the ocular glass. Do you have to wear for range requirements?
Nearly all ranges require eye and ear protection, and for a good reason.

Safety aside, it's better to show up with a nice pair of shooting glasses, then to end up having to shoot with a pair of sunglasses that you end up looking over the top of the lens.

Decot Hy- Wides have been my choice for prone with irons for many years now. I have the model with adjustable bridge height. The clear lenses are all I use. If I need a colored lens, I have several choices in my rear iris.

Like others here have said, I like the Ranger Engineering (RE) frames with adjustable nose piece, particularly, the Sporter 150mm USA frame. Check them out at Texas Shooters Optical, Houston. They also did my prescription lenses in polycarbonate w/bifocal.

Your optic of choice should be your objective. If you are looking for quality of sight picture from the shooting glasses you are wearing, I am thinking your focus is in the wrong area.

CMP requires safety glasses be worn during any CMP sanctioned event. Plus clubs a lot of time will require eye pro.

Went with the Rangers. I haven’t shot with them yet but they seem very very nice. Just what I was looking for. Thanks everyone!

Classic Hy-Wyd with Hy-Lo Bridge Package

I shoot a lot of prone, irons and scope and vintage rifles. I like the Decot Classic for most of the shooting. I can change colors from clear to tinted, change RX as my eye change with age. The Decot set far enough from the face that fogging is usually not a problem. Decot customer service is excellent. I also use the Decot glasses for trap and sporting clays. When shooiting vintage rifle i like the very wide coverage of my eyes that the Decot glasses provide. I also own Knoblock glasses that i use when i am shooting my Tube guns at mid and long range and when shooting my smallbore rifles. If i had to choose one type, Hands down, Decot would be my type to use for everything. First should be protection of your eyes if something goes wrong and 2nd should be function. If possible, check with your shooting friends and see if you can barrow different types before you invest in the High quality glasses. Good luck and safe shooting.
