Problems with some venders

What is the problem some small venders have with quoting a total price including shipping ??
Most small venders have a "contact " place on their web site, and I use that to contact them so they can answer when time allows. I usually ask, are X, Y,& Z are available and what is the total charge shipped to my zip code. Two simple questions, yet , none of the ones I've contacted recently are able or willing to answer two simple questions.

Actually I've come to believe because they are a small vendor, they have contracts with shipping outfits that charge them by the size and weight of what they ship. And those weights and charges are cumulative and not for a single package. In other words, they have to wait until the end of a given period (like 20 -30 days) and then they find out how much they owe. It's not that's it's a big secret, but some also charge an additional "handling fee" to help off set that guessing game about their overhead costs. So what seems to be a natural and easy question to answer, isn't so and everything in retail is a competition to out do and out sell a competitor. And hence they do keep secrets so don't expect an answer anytime soon. I gave that up a long time ago.

There are a lot of good products out there made by incompetent or arrogant businesspersons. Having said that, TIMELY COMMUNICATION goes a long way.

Supply chain merchandise. Unless it's specific to that company, they usually warehouse it off site. Then drop ship it from either the actual manufacturer or warehouse that has it in stock. Natchez is famous for it. When you order they tell you where it's at by warehouse number, and the shipping time. Some vendors don't make anything, but act as a middleman and have everything drop shipped. (Mail order to a new level)

I'm pleased with vendors who give me shipping costs after the order is known. I expect that they are charging me costs, not a one size fits all standard price.

In the AR trigger thread I asked for info from people that had actual experience with the triggers I specifically mentioned , and about 75% of those that replied just wanted to hear themselves talk and none listed the triggers I specified .
As to the venders, As I posted in my OP, I asked two questions ; Are the items in stock, and what is the total charge for said items shipped to my zip code.

I make it easy, my web site tells you if the
item is in stock, and the shipping is free.
It doesnt get any more simple than this.

That's how I feel. Not sure what kind of products you are looking for but great prices and next day tracking blackriflearms dot com puts it right on the self checkout to give you choices. And no I am not affiliated with them in any form or fashion. Just great prices, fast shipping, and up front reasonable shipping charges.

AND that's the way it should be, not XYZ costs $ XX.XX and and a blank for any shipping charges. All I'm looking for is a SS recoil lug and a Remage barrel nut.
AND before anyone suggests trying NSS,The barrel outlet, or others, they are either in the shipping is a super secret classification
OR one of the two items is NIS, that's "Not In Stock".
