Problems attaching photos?

Lately I haven't been able to attach pics to any thread new or reply. I'm on an android 10 os mobile device on a high speed wireless connection (Fiber optic and 5ghz wifi). I click attach file, go to gallery, select pic, click done and nothing happens. Cannot click "attach files" again after that, nothing happens.

Have any settings or permissions changed lately? Anyone else have the issue?

My phone doesnt let me do it either. Says the format is not compatible. I donno if my phone pics are too large.. or its a .jpg type format thing... im also on android.

Mine did the same thing with Samsung browser. Has something to do with cookies. I never fixed it. I have to switch to Chrome to upload.

Some of the new iPhones generate photos that are WAY too large (3000+ pixels). A good file size is 600 to 800 pixels wide. That's plenty.

If you're uploading from a phone, set the image size to "small" or "medium". With a new iPhone you may need an App.

You may also find the click and drag function works better.

On an Android I've had an issue on my medical sites sending attachments using the default browser. As someone else has noted, chrome works when the Samsung browser does not (this was sending test results to my Doctors).

Butch, I use a third party image hosting site. Works very well.

Al, I have n2 third party hosts. In the past I could go to either and click on the photo and paste it on the forum-no longer. Other forums that I'm a member will still let me post photos.
I'm headed to Jay Lynn Gore's home to visit with him. He is fighting cancer and is no longer able to drive.

Just use an app to resize the photos before uploading, there's a zillion to choose from just pick one that does what you need. Even 1000px on the long edge will give a large picture here and the file size will be very small. I generally use 640 or 800 unless I'm trying to fill the page.

Using an app also has another advantage, you can strip all the metadata from the picture if you like so your personal info or location data will be stripped from the photo on save. Then simply pick that resized photo for use on web site postings.

The photo below is 640px on the long edge and only 198kb in size (resized via "shotwell viewer" - linux)

I know its not a file size issue, I resize most everything before I post it anyway. My phone is a Galaxy S9+ about 8 years old. I'll look into settings on Samsung browser and see what I can find. I don't get an error or anything, just non-action.

I found the same thing on my desk top, but now I just copy & paste the link instead like I used to, & the pics show up just fine.

I used to use my desktop and Imgur

Have been using my IPad most recently and is simple

I’m no PC geek in any way

Just shot these today….IPHONE 16 plus

Then send to IPad to transfer to this site

The IPhone 16 camera system is purty darn good

I just go to my pictures, click on my photo, copy it and then paste it right in the reply screen. Never resize anything. Use to have trouble trying to attach pics so quit doing it that way.

Copy and paste for many years but not on this forum anymore. I still paste them on other forums.

I have to change my iphone settings to a lower resulution everytime if I want to upload photos to this site

The size of the new resolution photos is SO big that is takes up way to much space on servers
